Episode 5 - Which Witch for Yig?
George and Russ return from their recon of the Hughes’ compound on Friday morning. The gang meets and decides to set-up surveillance cameras at the Hughes estate that night while Bob begins to read the Tome of Nocturnal Crafts.
The gang minus Bob returns to the Hughes compound and begins deployment of the cameras. Russ, off by himself deploying cameras along the driveway/road to the compound runs into a vampire. Russ calls on the radio for help while engaging the vampire in combat. Things begin to look grim for Russ when Kiki shows up and knocks-out the vampire, taking him captive. Once all the cameras are deployed, the gang, with their vampire captive in tow, return to the office in Columbia.
Bob’s research on the Tome of Nocturnal Crafts reveals Mary’s long sorted past, in addition to her worship of Yig. The gang gathers around to question (with some prodding from Bob) the Vampire. Once they have gotten all the information from him, Kiki dusts the vamp.
Upon reviewing the surveillance cameras at Hughes’ compound, they see that Hughes has a visitor. Doing a license plate check, the car belongs to a Mr. Whalen Tubbs of Frederick MD. Russ and George decide to stake out and break into Tubbs’ house later that day. While there, George bugs Tubbs’ office while Russ searches the house. They discover that Tubbs is a dealer in occult artifacts. Russ and George exit the house and return to their office in Columbia. There, via the bug, they learn that Tubbs will meet with Hughes the next day at 11:00am to discuss the Orb of Matoba. At this time, the gang plans a break-in to coincide with Tubbs’ arrival at the Hughes compound.
The gang goes shopping for all types of fun anti-vampire toys, masks, gloves, etc. to help with the break-in at Hughes’ compound. The gang position’s itself outside the gate and waits for Tubbs’ arrival. Once the gate open, the gang runs in. Kiki knocks out Tubbs and puts him in his car’s trunk. George uses explosives to destroy the motor assembly for the gate controls so the gate will not close. Jay and Zach move to the secondary building that houses the vampires and sets it on fire with 20 gallons of gasoline. Russ and Bob run to the front door of the main house, kick the door in, and when joined by Kiki and George, move downstairs to find the cross in Hughes’ museum.
The museum is located, but Kiki cannot get past the doorway due to a magical force. The gang moves back upstairs to find Hughes, whom, after they disarm him, “convince” him to lower the magical force. Kiki grabs the cross. Bob also sees and grabs a book called Exorcism of Witches. The gang moves upstairs, handcuffs Hughes to a stair railing and exits the compound.
Upon their return to the office, Kiki calls Caldwell to inform him that they have recovered the cross. Caldwell is elated and stops by two hours later with the balance of their $100,000 payment. The gang decides to celebrate and goes out for a huge, fancy dinner. After dinner, Kiki, Russ, Jay, and Zach patrol the mall by car. During their drive past the site of the ancient energy, they see Mary Winfield, chanting once again. Behind her, a portal opens and through the mist of the portal, the group sees Mary’s master, Yig. Yig says that he has considered Mary plea for help to acquire the ancient energy, and has decided to help her. There is a flash of light, the portal is gone, and on the ground near Mary is a woman, on her hands and knees. The woman looks up at Mary, and Mary, with a smile on her face, says “Tabitha…”
